Understanding: A Transgender Panel Discussion

  • Open Door 1665 Larkin Avenue Elgin, IL, 60123 United States (map)

A panel of transgender individuals and those who support them will discuss issues facing the transgender community, share their personal insights and experiences, and answer questions at Open Door’s Elgin Health Center at 1665 Larkin Ave.

Our goals include:
– Present clear, balanced and accurate information about the lives of transgender people.
– Educate participants on the discrimination and other issues transgender people face in our society
– Provide tools on how participants can support the transgender community and its efforts.

Transgender issues are complex and new to many people. Therefore, it is imperative that participants understand that other participants will vary in levels of understanding of the topic. This event does not require any previous or advanced skills, knowledge or exposure of the topic to actively participate.
